No-Cost Residential Chipping Program Info: In an ongoing effort to reduce wildfire risk in high-hazard areas, the Hayward Fire Department will accept applications starting Aug. 10 through Oct. 1 for its Fall Chipping program. Fall chipping will be scheduled between the weeks of Sept. 1 and Nov. 13 or until funds are depleted. To participate, residents must complete the 2026 Chipping Application, which can be found at www.hayward-ca.gov/ChipperProgram.
